Beginner’s Guide to Dragon Ball Legends: Character Guide

Dragon Ball Legends (DBL) is an exciting mobile game that immerses players in the beloved Dragon Ball universe through fast-paced combat, impressive animations, and a wide variety of characters. For those just starting out, the game’s complexity can be daunting, which is why we’re launching a series of beginner-friendly guides to help you get better at playing DBL. Part one will focus on the characters, their rarity, types, star system, character tags, skill ranges, and more.
Let’s start with the basic game characters. All of our game characters can be found in the character list.
1. Character Rarity
In Dragon Ball Legends, characters are divided into four rarity tiers(from low to high) :
HE (Hero)
EX (Extreme)
SP (Sparkling)
UL (Ultra)
Each character’s rarity is displayed in the bottom-left corner of their icon. Higher rarity characters generally have better stats and abilities, but lower rarity characters like HE and EX are often required for specific missions or events.

There are two special characters in this game. One is the “awakened character”, which has a golden frame around it. Awakened characters are usually old characters that cannot keep up with the game environment, so the game planner will strengthen them. After awakening, they will have two more passive skills, and their original abilities will be strengthened and modified.

The other is the “Legends Limited character”, which has a Legends Limited logo on its head. These characters may not be the strongest, but their animations are cooler. When you use some special skills, such as Ultimate or Special Skills, to finish off the last enemy character, there will be a special ending animation called Legendary Finish.

2. Character Types and Colors
Characters in DBL are sorted by color and type:
Colors: Red, Yellow, Purple, Green, Blue, White, and Black. Each color has a specific counter relationship:
Blue beats Red, Red beats Yellow, Yellow beats Purple, Purple beats Green, Green beats Blue. In addition, there are special characters that are white and black. Black is usually the boss of some dungeons in the main storyline. Black and white are mutually restrained. Other colors have no restraint relationship with white, but are all restrained by black.

Four Types: Melee, Range, Support, and Defense. In the character details, to the right of the color. Each type may have some impact on the character’s equipment or some dungeon conditions, and its own characteristics may determine the way you play this character.

3. Character Limit Break System
Characters can be upgraded using the “Limited Break System”, with a maximum of 14 stars (Red 7). Key milestones occur at 3, 6 and 7 stars, where characters gain additional abilities. At 3, 6 and 7 stars, their party-buffing Z Abilities will be upgraded. If you’re short on resources, focus on getting your SP characters to Red 2 for a significant power boost. When certain characters reach star 7 through limit breaking, they can undergo Zenkai Awakening by gathering Awakening Z Power.

The top right of the character type will have a number, DBL73-01U this number refers to the character’s number, DBL73 refers to and the 73rd batch of roles, and then 01 is this batch of the first character, the last “U” refers to its rarity is Ultra. In addition, the level is at the bottom.
